Intel Xeon E5-46xxを搭載する4-socket Fujitsu x86サーバー PRIMERGY RX500 S7にUbuntu 10.04 LTS (amd64)をインストールしてみた。12.04 LTSでいいんじゃないのと思ったんだけど、お客が10.04を指定してたのでしょうがなく。
デフォルトのigbとmegaraid_sasドライバは、それぞれオンボードNICのIntel I350とFujitsu D3116 RAIDカード (LSI SAS2208ベースのカード。LSI MegaRAID 9266-8iと似たようなもの)をサポートしてないので、最新版をひろってきて別のマシンでビルドしておく。今回使ったのは、igb 4.0.17 と megaraid_sas v06.504.01.00。
インストーラーを起動してネットワーク設定のところまでいくと、ネットワークデバイスが見つからないと言われるので、別マシンでビルドしておいた igb.ko と megaraid_sas.ko をUSBメモリ経由でインスーラーにコピー。Ctrl-Alt-F2 でコンソールに入って、USBメモリをマウントする。
# mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt
オリジナルのigb.koとmegaraid_sas.koをリネームして自分でコンパイルしたものと差し替え(UbuntuにはRed HatとかでいうところのDUDみたいな機構はないのかな？)。
(igbドライバ)
# cd /lib/modules/2.6.32-38-generic/kernel/drivers/net/igb/
# mv igb.ko igb.ko.orig
# cp /mnt/igb.ko .
(megaraid_sasドライバ)
# cd /lib/modules/2.6.32-38-generic/kernel/drivers/scsi/megaraid/
# mv megaraid_sas.ko megaraid_sas.ko.orig
# cp /mnt/megaraid_sas.ko .
新しいigbとmegaraid_sasを読み込んでおく。
# modprobe igb
# modprobe megaraid_sas
Ctrl-Alt-F1 で元のインストーラーの画面に戻って、ネットワークデバイスの設定画面に戻ると、今度はNICをきちんと認識するので後は普通どおりにインストール作業をする。ディスクもきちんと検出されて問題なく最後までいけるはず。
最後にインストール完了となった段階で再起動する前に Ctrl-Alt-F2 でコンソールに移動。インストーラーのドライバはアップデートしたけど、ディスクにインストールされた方のドライバは自動でアップデートされないので自分でアップデート作業が必要。
# cp /mnt/igb.ko /target/root/
# cp /mnt/megaraid_sas.ko /target/root/
で自前ビルドのigbとmegaraid_sasドライバをインストールされた方の環境に一時的にコピー。
# chroot /target
でディスク側の環境にスイッチ。インストーラーにやったときのように igb.ko と megaraid_sas.ko をそれぞれ差し替えて
# mount -t proc none /proc
(やらなくても大丈夫かもしれないけど、念のためにigbとmegaraid_sasがinitrdに入るようにしておく)
# echo -e "igb\nmegaraid_sas\n" >> /etc/initramfs-tools/modules
# update-initramfs -u
でinitrdを再構築。これであとは再起動すれば無事にUbuntu 10.04のインストールは完了。
注意するのはドライバのビルドのために別途Ubuntuのシステムが必要ってことぐらいかな。あと上記手順ではigb.koとmegaraid_sas.koにしてるけど、実際にはgenericカーネル(インストーラー用)とserverカーネル(ターゲットデバイス用)向けにそれぞれドライバをビルドして使いました。
